Roscoe Layug Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cypress Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park on Feb. 22, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roscoe Luna Layug, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend. Roscoe, aged 46, left this world on Friday, February 16, 2024. He was born in Guagua, Pampanga, Philippines on January 12, 1978, to Rey Layug Sr. and Estrella Magara Luna. Roscoe began his educational journey at Guagua National Colleges before relocating to the U.S. where he attended Balboa High School and earned his phlebotomy certificate from Byrman College.
Roscoe embarked on his professional career as a dialysis technician, dedicating 25 years of service to UCSF. Despite his playful complaints about his job, his commitment to helping patients spoke volumes. He took pride in sharing his expertise, even taking on a role as a part-time educator for aspiring dialysis technicians.
Throughout his life, Roscoe cultivated enduring friendships that remain steadfast to this day. Whether dining out, catching up over phone calls, or connecting via FaceTime, his presence was a constant source of joy. His family and friends, even those from afar like his grandparents in Virginia, were deeply touched by his legacy. They fondly remember his unwavering dedication to staying connected, always checking in to ensure their well-being.
An active member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Parish, Roscoe devoted his time and energy to his faith, finding solace in gospel music and the teachings of the Bible. Known for his culinary skills, his family often requested his signature dishes like kare kare and pancit, which he lovingly prepared. Roscoe also found joy in caring for his plants, listening to classical music, and surrounding himself with good company.
Roscoe will forever be cherished for his patience, wisdom, kindness, ambition, and incredible sense of humor. His memory will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who held him dear. We will always envision hearing his familiar greetings of "How are you?" and "How's life?" one more time. Roscoe was truly a remarkable son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, grandson, and friend.
Roscoe is survived by his father, Rey, mother, Estrella, brothers, Jojo and Rhoan, sister, Lana, and nieces and nephews, Giovanni, Mason, Ethan, Uriah, and Jayer.
