Roscoe Tippett Obituary
He is survived by his wife Connie Tippett (Cannon) and step-daughter Michelle Hess, daughter Nicole Ward Burn (Greg) and son Matthew Ward Tippett (Tara) and grandchildren, Kelly, Ivy, Madelyn and James Ward.
He was preceded by his father Roscoe Tippett Sr. of Cheltenham and Mazie Tippett (DeMarr) of White Plains, as well as his first wife Nancy Zottl (Keller) of Kitzmiller.
His first dog was a pointer named Sport and his last dog was a lap dog, Phoebe. There was Duke the Brittany, Sara the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Bob the German Shorthaired, and Will the Brittany, and so many more it's too long to list here. Maggie the Brittany was the dog that sparked his return to hunting dogs, and that was a joy for him and everyone that had the opportunity to walk the fields or boat into the swamp with him.
He graduated from Suitland High School in 1960. He was a Registered Land Surveyor in Maryland, and Virginia, having worked with W.L. Meekins in Forestville, Baldwin & Sampson in Clinton as a partner, and retired from RDA in Upper Marlboro. From Bryan Point to the Mattawoman, down to Dobson all the way to Swanson Creek, from the many Heights to Laurel and south all along the Patuxent, Prince George's County was his home.
His 49 years of surveying allowed him to retire to Winterville, North Carolina and spend 20 years hunting and training dogs, most notably with Feather Creek Farms. He was a collector of wildlife art and active for many years with the Southern Maryland branch of Quail Unlimited as Maryland State Chairman, as well as one of the founders of the Southern Maryland Wildlife Festival, a top tier fundraiser for many Conservation Banquets. He will be missed by many; we ask that you think of him when you hear the geese flying high, the quail whistling low and the dove cooing at sunset.
