Rose Marie Ambrose was born on September 20, 1947, in Dunlap, Iowa to Wray and Marie (Rogers) Cline. She spent a few years of her childhood on the farm and then moved to town. Rose attended school at the St. Joseph Catholic School and was confirmed at the St. Patrick’s Church in Dunlap. Rose was united in marriage to Stanley Ambrose on February 27, 1965. They were blessed with four children, Jerry, Chris, Marc and Kim.

After raising her children, Rose held various jobs. Much of her life was spent at the Dunlap Nursing home as an assistant activity director. She volunteered there as well regularly. Rose loved spending time with family and friends. She was known for talking on the phone and her and the family would refer to it as the “hotline”. Rose loved to shop at consignment stores in hopes of finding the best deals. She was always looking out for other people’s needs. Rose believed in the power of prayer and didn’t ever hesitate to lift people up in prayer with a “call out east”.

Rose died on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 78 years, two months and 13 days. Rose valued the gift of life, especially after receiving a kidney donation in 1988 and decided to give back to others by donating her body to science.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Tom Cline, Myrna Melby, William “Bill” Cline and Marty Cline; brothers-in-law, Curt Cooney and Duane Melby; and sisters-in-law, Frankie Cline and Rhonda Cline. She is survived by her husband, Stan of Dunlap; children, Jerry (Laura) Ambrose of Clear Spring, Maryland, Chris (Mike) Weber of Dunlap, Marc (Judy) Ambrose of Dunlap and Kim (Dave) Miller of Carroll, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruth Cooney of Atlantic, Iowa, Richard (Cathy) Cline of Dunlap and Joyce (Lenny) Kramer of Buckeye, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Mitsuko Cline of Oceanside, California and Evie Cline of Dunlap; and many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Dunlap Fire and Rescue Department (715 Iowa Ave. Dunlap, IA 51529) or the Dunlap Food Pantry (714 Iowa Ave. Dunlap, IA 51529)
