Rose Ann Clara (Gerten) Kaufman
GLANDORF – Rose Ann Clara (Gerten) Kaufman, 77, of Glandorf, passed away at 4:08 p.m., Monday, January 12, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 23, 1948, in Lima to the late John and Rita (Hanneman) Gerten. On July 11, 1970, she married Kenneth L. Kaufman, married 55 years, who survives in Glandorf.
Other survivors include four children: Sharon (Ryan “Doc”) Stechschulte, Daniel (Angela) Kaufman, Annette (Bryan) Fuka and Jackie (BJ) Schroeder all of Ottawa; son-in-law, Brad (Trisha) Schumaker of Ottawa; seventeen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six siblings: Norma Jean Liebrecht of Continental, Mary Lou (Daniel) Baldauf of Delphos, Thomas Gerten and Donald (Janice) Gerten both of Leipsic, Carol (John) Welty of Ottawa, and Kathleen (Victor) Schnipke of Portage; and a brother-in-law, Don Recker of Ottawa.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Schumaker; two siblings: Joseph Gerten and Janice Recker; and a brother-in-law: Sylvester Liebrecht, Jr.
Rose Ann proudly graduated from Mary Manse Catholic College in Toledo. She taught at Kalida Elementary full-time for a year and then substitute taught while raising her children. After raising her children, she went back to full-time teaching at Glandorf Elementary, retiring in 2012 after 43 wonderful years. She loved teaching and cherished the friendships she developed through the years.
Rose Ann was actively involved in Glandorf St. John’s Church, where she taught Religion for many years. She also led the rosary, kids adoration and was a Eucharistic Minister. She lived and demonstrated a very faith filled life.
Rose Ann treasured her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, going to all their events. She also enjoyed sewing for her family and often sewed for others as well.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 19, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m., Sunday with a rosary service beginning at 7:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Glandorf Elementary School Library or a charity of the donor’s choice. The family will be making a donation to Putnam County Hospice in place of thank you notes.
