Rose Bommarito passed away on October 9, 2009 of heart failure at St. John Hospital in Detroit. She was born Rosa Marie Mannino on September 9, 1925 in Detroit to Vito and Antonina Mannino. On October 8, 1949 Rose married Giovanni "John" Bommarito. They had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary the day before her death. Rose enjoyed traveling and spent her winters in Boca Raton, Florida with John. She was proud of her flowers and well kept yard and pool. Mrs. Bommarito loved hosting family gatherings where she could dote on her grandchildren and make sure everyone was well fed. She was adored by her husband John. Rose was proud of her children Mary Ann Kelly, Michael Bommarito (Nancy), and Rosanne Brugnoni (Raffael). She will be missed dearly by her grandchildren Kristin, Bryan, John, Giancarlo, Daniel, Dominic, Matthew, and Monica. She leaves behind her sisters Camile Malfitano and Nell Benedict; and brother Carl Mannino. She was predeceased by her sister Louise Boileau. Visitation will be held on Sunday and Monday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Monday. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 am at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church 21620 Greater Mack, St Clair Shores. The Bommarito family will receive guests at Church after 9:30 am. Monsignor Michael Bugarin will officiate the Mass. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit.
