Rose Marie Brooks, 92, died Wednesday January 14, 2026 at Palm Garden in Gainesville, Florida. She had been in declining health for several months. She was born in Malone, NY, September 25, 1933, daughter of Henry and Ruth (Bogart) Yeddo. She married James (Jim) Brooks on January 17, 1954, at Centenary United Methodist Church in Malone. He passed away on April 14, 2017. She operated a child care service in Malone for many years.

She is survived by two children: Jim Brooks of Gainesville, FL and Lynne Brooks of Springfield, MO. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Melinda (James) Chaney, CA; Cheyenne (Shawn) Barrett-Slater, Sharon (Jonathan) Barrett-Wise, and John Barrett, all in MO; and one great-grandson, Dante Barrett-Slater.

She is also survived by two sisters: Phyllis Yeddo and Patricia Yeddo, both of Malone; two sisters-in-law, Pam (Robert) Yeddo and Phyllis Brooks (Joe) Rousell; and two brothers-in-law, André (Carol Brooks) Poirier and Ross (Dolores Yeddo) Balthazard. In addition, she is survived by many, many nieces and nephews who were very important in her life.

She was predeceased by many siblings: Glen Foster, Beatrice Foster Brooks, Donald Yeddo, Richard Yeddo, June Yeddo, Dolores Yeddo Balthazard, Robert Yeddo, Carol Yeddo, Winnie Yeddo, Wealthy Yeddo Nason, Olive Yeddo Bump, Charlotte Yeddo Soucia, Aloney Yeddo, and Carlton Yeddo.

Rose loved travel, time with friends and family, and had a very prolific hobby of sending greeting cards. She loved to be active and was still walking outside a mile per day six months before her passing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Gainesville, FL; or Centenary United Methodist Church, Malone, NY. You may call the church for more information.
