ALEXANDER – Rose Cantrell Green, age 91, of Alexander, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
Rose was born on April 27, 1933, in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She retired from Buncombe County Schools in 1991 after teaching for 20 years. She was an active member of Alexander Missionary Baptist Church for more than 65 years and sang with the Cantrell Quartet for many years.
Rose was the daughter of the late William and Nola Wallin Cantrell and wife of the late Glen Hobert Green who died in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Pearl and Imogene Cantrell, Anna Belle Petropol, Edith Luttrell, Nora Sawyer, and Frances Ramsey; and brothers, Chester, Ralph, Roy, Carl, Jeter and Howard Cantrell.
Surviving is her daughter, Pam G. Hollodick and husband George; son, Edward Green and wife Vickie; grandson, Matthew Green and wife Anna; and great grandson, Callen Green.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in Alexander Missionary Baptist Church, 1 Curtis Parker Road, Alexander, with the Rev. Gerald Sprinkle officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Alexander Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends the evening prior to the service from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2025, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
