Rose Mary Guy

1924 - 2025

Rose Mary Guy, age 100, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, at Bethany Gardens, where she had been a resident since 2018.

Rose Mary was born in Rome on October 27, 1924, to the late Fred and Marie McSweeney Owens, and graduated from the Academy of Holy Names. On June 22, 1946, she was united in marriage to Fred Guy; a blessed union of 63 years until his passing on June 12, 2009. Rose Mary worked for the Rome Developmental Center.

Rose Mary enjoyed being with her grandchildren and, in her younger years, would have them over regularly for sleepovers, creating lasting memories of card playing and laughter that the grandchildren can cherish forever. She loved to swim at the YMCA, walk, ride her bike, and golf with her good friend, Mary "Mac." Rose Mary had tremendous faith and was a devoted parishioner of St. Paul's Church and attended mass regularly.

Rose Mary is survived by her daughters, Marie (Mark) Bostwick, and Barbara Guy both of Rome; her sons, David Guy and Dennis Guy both of Rome; her grandchildren, David (Marlee) Guy, James (Lisa) Guy, Michael (Barb) Guy, Jason (Tracey) Guy, Melissa (Pat) Bellman, Kristen Semo, Amber Bentley, Chelsea Bentley, and Brandon (Kate) Bentley; 20 great grandchildren; her brother, Neil (Bridget) Owens of OR; her brother in law, Bernie Carr of Rome; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Gloria Carr and Shirley Delmerico; and her daughter in law, Sunday Guy.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Bethany Gardens for their care and compassion shown to Rose Mary and her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 2 PM, at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in the spring.
