Rose Longo Obituary

New London - Rose Longo, our dear loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend died peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones.

After proudly graduating from Mount Holyoke College, she went on to Yale University School of Nursing and became a registered nurse. While at nursing school she met her future husband, Vinny, the love of her life.

Family was everything to Rose. She and her husband settled in New London, not far from their parents and siblings and together had three children.

Rose dove into motherhood and enjoyed participating in the Brownies and Girl Scouts and welcomed her sons' rock and roll band into her home for practices, where she would dance along to their tunes. She used her nursing skills with the Red Cross Blood mobile and assisted at her husband's medical office.

For many years she shared her passion for art with school age children as a docent at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum in New London.

She was dearly loved by her family and friends whom she often caught off guard with her wit and sense of humor. She had an aura of warmth and caring for others which was endearing.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Linda; and her sons, John and James. She is also remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her nieces and nephews all whom she cherished.

Funeral services are private. Condolences may be left on Mrs. Longo's memorial page at www.neilanfuneralhome.com.

I am very sorry to hear of Rosina's passing. As a member and now president of the Thames River Garden Club, I hear of many fond memories of her time with the garden club. We were happy to celebrate her 100th birthday at our monthly meeting this past spring. It sounds like she clearly lived a full life & was so special to her family. My sincere condolences.

Mrs Longo (Rose) was one of the kindness people I've ever known. Her beauty surrounded her in all ways. I'm a better person to have known such an elegant woman. I will forever remember our chats. God called a angel home. Your friend, Joe Parise
