Rose M. Mercuri

Rose M. Mercuri, 92, of Mendham, formerly Madison, NJ, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017. Funeral 8:30 Saturday, February 11, 2017, from the Megaro Memorial Home, 503 Union Avenue, Belleville, NJ. Mass 10 am St. Francis Xavier Church, 243 Abington Avenue, Newark, NJ. Interment Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair, NJ. Visitation is Friday 2-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rose may be made to the Community Food Bank, 31 Evans Terminal Road, Hillside, NJ 07205. Rose was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Mercuri, and daughter of Joseph and Maria Marinaro. She is survived by her daughter Sarah of Madison, Ric (Catherine) of Shorewood, WI, Joseph (Luz Marina) of Totowa, her four grandchildren, Nancy, Michael Joseph, Emma Rose Mercuri, Kate Gerstner, sister Joan Giordano, brother Nicholas Marinaro, and many nieces and nephews. Rose was proud of her Ironbound roots, and spoke fondly of her years as a jeweler at the Shiman Jewelry Manufacturing Company in the Ironbound, and of the Shiman Family. She was a member of the Bloomfield Senior Citizens and the Rosary Altar Society of St. Francis Xavier Church. Those who knew Rose, will remember her bright and beautiful smile, kind heart and gentle loving ways. She had the brightest countenance! Rose was an outstanding dressmaker and a fabulous cook. No one could match her homemade pizza, manicotti and ravioli. Her cream puffs and cheesecake were inimitable and made our eyes light up! A special thanks to the Palliative Care staff at Morristown Medical Center for their gentle, devoted love and attention, to Anna Raska, MD, and Nurse Carol Howard, for the excellent medical care they provided for many years, and the staff at Holly Manor where she happily lived during her final months.
