ROSE M. MICKE, age 88, of Stanley, WI, passed away at Colonial Health & Rehab, in Colby, WI on Friday, November 10, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30am on Tuesday November 21, 2023 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, in Thorp. Rev. Stanley Michael Antony will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church, on Tuesday, from 10:00am until time of service.
Rose Marie Crowley was born on April 18, 1935, in Owen, WI, to Patrick and Olga M. (Christiansen) Crowley. She was raised and received her education in Owen, graduating from Owen High School in 1953. Rose then attended technical school in Milwaukee, taking classes in business. She returned to Owen and worked at Master Packaging as the shipping clerk. Rose was united in marriage on August 25, 1955 to William G. "Bill" Micke, Jr. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, in Owen. They farmed with Bill's parents until eventually taking over the farm. Rose also worked as the office clerk for Midwest Livestock, and for Roger Hoffman at General Business Services, both in Thorp, while working alongside her husband on the farm. They were blessed with two sons who joined them on the farm, and they were later able to purchase five more surrounding farms. The original farm has been in the family for 125 years, with her grandchildren making it a 5th generation farm.
She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church and its PCCW, and was the election clerk for the Town of Worden, and the sewing leader for the Busy Bee 4-H Club, both for many years.
Rose had many interests, but especially enjoyed quilting, bowling, genealogy, and visiting with her friends Shirley and Joan. Bill and Rose made many trips out West to visit friends, attend cowboy poetry performances, and visit auction barns along the way.
She will be dearly missed by her sons: Dean Micke of Stanley, Allen (Lisa) Micke of Boyd; four grandchildren: Jessica Ryba of Cadott, WI, Andrew (Melissa) Micke, Jennifer Micke and Ryan Micke, all of Boyd, WI; five great-grandchildren: Aiden and Addison of Cadott, WI, Elizabeth, Isabel and Eleanor of Thorp, WI; one cousin: Berna Croco of Lebanon, OR; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, on December 5, 2016; one brother: John Crowley; one half-brother: Carl Larson; one step-brother: James Crowley; and one step-sister: Alice Kirkpatrick.
