Rose Rodacker

Rose Rodacker, age 70, of Casselton, ND, died on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. 

Rosemarie Ann Jerger was born on August 21, 1953, the oldest of 11 children to Walter and Mavis (Peake) Jerger in Moorhead, MN. She grew up on the family farm in rural Rothsay. Being active in 4-H was one of her favorite things growing up. She attended school in Barnesville graduating in 1971. During high school she played in the band. For many years she worked at the Town Hall in West Fargo, ND. Then at the age of 36, Rose then furthered her education at Fergus Falls Community College and then Brainerd Central Lakes College becoming a Registered Nurse. Before she became an RN, she worked in Environmental Services at MeritCare for several years. As an RN she worked at MeritCare/Sanford in the transitional care unit as an assistant manager until her retirement in 2015. 

On June 2, 1978, Rose was married to Royce W. Rodacker in Sisseton, SD. They lived in Fargo for a couple of years and then in Kindred for a few years and then moved to Casselton, ND for the past 42 years. 

Rose was an avid Minnesota sports fan and followed her nieces and nephews in their sporting events. She was a big NDSU Bison Football fan. She had a love of animals, always caring for her cats and dogs. She was an advocate for animals and would often foster animals in need. Her grandkids, Erika, Bailee, Brooke, and Austin melted her heart, and she was so proud of them. One of her past times was growing a garden and canning. Casting a line in a lake with Royce and her kids brought her joy. She was known to drop some money in the slots at the casino with her family. Her memory will be one of with a heart of gold and being the kindest person. 

Rose is survived by two children: Jason Jerger, Fargo, ND and Lora (fiancée Dave Sanders) Rodacker, Casselton, ND, her mother Mavis Jerger, Rothsay, MN, grandchildren: Erika (Tyler) Johanning, Bailee (Jake) Hedberg, Brooke (Sam Eystad) Jerger, and Austin Jerger, great grandchildren: Levi and Olivia Johanning, and Hadley Hedberg. siblings: Ron (Deb) Jerger, Barnesville, MN; Susie (Ron) Jordan, Fort Meyers Beach, FL, Sandy (Ron) Desmarais, Fargo, ND; Jon (Roxanne) Jerger, Fargo, ND; Sharri (Todd) Drussell, Hawley, MN; Jackie (Brian) Nelson; and Gene (Vickie) Thompson, Kindred, ND; sister-in-law Nancy Jerger, Rothsay, MN, Royce’s family Gary (Sandra) Rodacker, Fargo, ND, Lonnie (Shirley) Rodacker, Alexandria, MN, Dee (Ted) Pfeifer, Davenport, ND, and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by all of her family. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Royce Rodacker in 2013, her dad Walt Jerger, Her brothers Al Jerger and Jay Thompson, sister Annette Jerger, brother-in-law Dan Stetz, and mother-in-law Myrtle Boe. 

Memorial services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Dobmeier Funeral Home with Rev. John Werner officiating.  Visitation will start one hour prior to the service.
