Rose Rollins Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 29, 2026.
Rose Thompson Rollins, 91, wife of the late William Harold Rollins passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2026, entering into the loving hands of her Father, Jesus Christ.

Born on March 26, 1935, she was the daughter of the late James Walter Thompson and Edna Gaines Thompson.

Rose grew up in the Camperdown area of West Greenville, where she and her brothers spent many cherished days playing and making memories. She shared a close bond with her predeceased siblings, Bob Thompson, James "Jimmy Jr." Thompson, Joe Thompson, and living brother, Jack Thompson of Myrtle Beach.

Rose was a born again Christian and faithfully served. She was a longtime member of Sans Souci Baptist Church and later Agnew Road Baptist Church, where she dedicated many years to teaching and serving as a Sunday School teacher, touching countless lives with her faith and kindness.

For many years, Rose worked as a seamstress with Stones Manufacturing, where she used her talents not only in her profession but also at home, lovingly making sure her children had the very best-especially their cheerleading uniforms, stitched with both skill and a mother's love.

Rose enjoyed singing. Her beautiful voice touched so many. She also played a ukulele in a gospel band "The Music Makers" at different locations with her friends, bringing warmth and joy to every small church and community hall. People would gather as the sound of her voice carried messages of hope and faith.

Rose was a loving mother. She leaves behind seven children, Anthony Daniel McCarty, Becky Guin Lollis, Katherine Nelson Knight, Mitzi Guin Bowles (Richard), Billie Guin Bolt, Cynthia Guin Motes (Steve), Timothy Wade Guin (Sherri) along with her beloved 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 4 great -great grandchildren, who will continue to carry her love and legacy forward.

Her children rise today and call her blessed, honoring the life, faith, and love she so freely gave. She now rejoices in Heaven with her eldest daughter, Deborah Marchbanks Howell and her grandson, James Marchbanks who preceded her in death.

Rose found great joy in gathering her children and grandchildren around the table, sharing meals filled with laughter, stories, and love. Her quick wit and humorous spirit kept everyone smiling, and her presence will be deeply missed.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her daughter Kathy and son Danny, whose loving care and devotion in her later years were true acts of sacrifice and love.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at San Souci Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

The family will be at their respective homes.
