Rose Lee Sherman

Rose Lee Sherman, age 73 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Friday afternoon, August 18, 2023, at her residence with her loving family at her side. Born on September 8, 1949, in the Smoke Hole area of Grant County, WV, the daughter of the late Charles Harrison Kimble and Susan Gemina Shirk Kimble. A son, Carl Wayne “Junior” Sherman, a son-in-law, Mark Sheridan Flinn and two sisters, Vada Keplinger and Sally Ann Kimble also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Rig Assembly of God Church.

Rose worked at Pilgrim’s Pride until her illness caused her to retire after 55 years of service. Her home, open to many who lived there, had a special love for children. Her family was her entire world. She enjoyed watching them in the many sports they were competing in, always there for any event. Her home was always open, welcoming any who came, ensuring their bellies were full, including with a dessert of butterscotch pie when they departed.

Surviving is her husband and soulmate of 58 years, Carl Wayne Sherman, Sr.; two daughters, Penny (Rick) Halterman and Lara (Todd) Flinn Tanner; a “son” she raised, Charles “Chuckie” Whetzel; seven grandchildren, Alicia (Robbie) Riggleman, Cassandra Harman, Kenneth Sherman, Brittany (Eugene) Rinker, Dylan (Hunter) Flinn, Sumer (Jesse) Miller & Trace Tanner; ten great-grandchildren, Kiersten, Tristen, Ashlen, Brycen, Riley, Maddie, Carlie, Aiden, Wren & Kayla; two brothers, Charles “Jack” (Debbie) Kimble & Joseph “Tom” Kimble; three sisters, Audrey “Jean” Crites, Dottie (Harlen) Shirk & Sue (Buck) Thorne; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Rig Assembly of God Church with Pastors Brad Taylor & Elizabeth Martin officiants. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service.

The family knows that God sent a private caretaker, Ann Mickens and wonderful Hospice nurses for Rose’s care.
