Rose Hart Spencer passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the St.George Regional Hospital due to pneumonia caused by cancer.
Rose was born on June 8, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the youngest of seven siblings born to John and Adriana Hart. Her parents immigrated from the Netherlands in 1948, right after the war, bringing with them her three older brothers. She cherished her visits throughout life to the Netherlands to see family and friends.
In 1973, Rose welcomed her beloved son, Dusten Shilo Hart, and then in 1997, she met Darrel Spencer, and they became a family with his three sons, Nick Spencer, Chad Spencer, and Casey Spencer.
Rose lived a Christian lifestyle, and everyone who met her felt special and loved.
Rose enjoyed a rewarding career as a medical secretary at Primary Children’s Hospital and went on to be an office manager for a podiatrist. After retiring and moving to Escalante with Darrel, her favorite occupation was as a waitress, where she thrived on meeting tourists and chatting about all kinds of adventures.
Her absolute favorite pastime was having family come to visit and spending quality time with her grandkids, where they would tie-dye shirts, hike, barbecue, go four-wheeling, and simply make memories together.
Rose is survived by her husband, Darrel Spencer; her four sons and their spouses: Dusten and Asenath Hart, Nick and Kim Spencer, Chad and Kristen Spencer, Casey and Diana Spencer; and her 13 cherished grandchildren: Nicolas Hart, Brooque Hart, Victoria Hart, Dusten Hart Jr., Jaydyn Spencer, Austin Spencer, Alayna Spencer, Alyssa Spencer, Seth Spencer, Preston Spencer, Bryson Spencer, Daxson Spencer, Collin Spencer; and her three siblings, Auke Hart, Donna Hart Lloyd, and Mary Hart Wilkinson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memories of Rose be shared with those she touched through her kindness, warmth, and a smile that brightened every room. May she rest in peace, and may those who loved her carry forward her spirit of family, faith, and adventure.
