Rose Wrabel, 88, of Dunmore, died Friday evening at home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jerome J. Wrabel.
Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Nicholas and Bernetta Matone Williams, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore.
Affectionately known as "Bema," she loved spending time with her family and her cat, Pumpkin. She spent her life watching her three grandchildren grow up and was involved in every aspect of their lives. She also loved to listen to polka music and to the Dunmore football games.
She is survived by her children: daughter, Debra Santarsiero and her husband, Michael, Jefferson Twp.; and son, John Wrabel, Dunmore, who was her caregiver up until the end; grandchildren, Michael Santarsiero, Washington, D.C.; Desirae Santarsiero, Spring Brook Twp.; and Alexa Santarsiero, Jefferson Twp. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Ann Soranno.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses, aides and staff at Allied Services Hospice Center for the care and compassion shown towards Rose during her time of need.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Interment to follow in Dunmore Cemetery.
Family and friends may pay their respects that morning from 8:15 to 9:15 at the funeral home.
