RoseAnna Tanner Obituary

AVA - RoseAnna Marie (Morczek) Tanner, 83, of Rt. 26, and widow of Robert A., passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, while surrounded by the loving care of her family and Hospice.

RoseAnna was born in Highmarket, on February 3, 1941, a daughter of Rudolph and Loretta LaSalle Morczek. She grew up on Sullivan Road, in the hamlet of Highmarket and attended Constableville Central School, graduating with the Class of 1959.

On January 9, 1960, RoseAnna was united in marriage with Robert A. Tanner, Sr., in Rome, NY. Afterwards, she lived in Georgia, where Mr. Tanner was stationed while serving in the U.S. Army. In 1962, the couple settled in West Leyden, before moving to a farm in Ava, in 1965, where they raised their family. Mr. Tanner, a retired Ap Mechanic, at Hancock International Airport, Syracuse, passed away on January 31, 2006.

For a time, RoseAnna was employed as a cook at Bethany House, Rome. Later, for 17 years, Mrs. Tanner was employed as a Teacher's Aide and Substitute Teacher at West Leyden Elementary School, of the Adirondack Central School District, West Leyden.

During her life, she attended St. Mary's Church, West Leyden and St. Joseph's Church, Lee Center, and in more recent years, she attended All Saints Polish National Catholic Church, Rome.

RoseAnna greatly enjoyed gardening, raising vegetables in what was humorously named, "Rosies Beer Garden", a name which stemmed from her using empty cardboard beer can containers to protect her young tomato plants. In addition to gardening, she enjoyed bow and rifle hunting seasons and she was an accomplished yodeler and harmonica player.

She is survived by her six children, Renee' (Bruce) Rounds, Boonville, Richard Tanner and significant other, Cindy Appel, Cold Brook, Robert A. Tanner, Jr. (Tracy), Ava, Sheila Underwood, (Bill III), West Leyden, John Tanner and significant other, Christine Burke, Boonville and Jane White and significant other, Brad Hoffman, Boonville; fifteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two brothers, David Morczek, Vernon and Rudolph Morczek, Jr., Lee Center; several nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Cindy McCormack, Herkimer; and a special friend, Sue Lemon, Lee Center.

She was predeceased by four brothers, Robert, in infancy, Gilbert, Roger "Pete" and Adolph Morczek; a sister, Mary Rita Mathis; grandson, William J. Underwood, IV; granddaughter, Lindsay M. Tanner; and a great-grandson, Hunter E. Underwood.

Her Funeral will be on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St., Boonville, where Fr. Marian Pociecha, Pastor of All Saints Polish National Catholic Church, Rome, will officiate. Calling hours will be Monday, from 2:00 PM until the funeral, at the funeral home. A spring interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Forestport.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Polish National Catholic Church, 801 Hickory St., Rome, NY 13440 or to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13440.
