Rosemarie Kleuker, a longtime resident of Dunnellon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
She is survived by her daughters, Tina Kleuker of Gainesville, Florida, and Birgit Kleuker of Oakland, California.
A Celebration of Life and Birthday will be held in her honor at The Train Depot in Dunnellon on October 25th at 11:00 a.m. Light refreshments will be served. Friends and family are invited to bring laughter, warm memories and stories to share – just as Rosemarie would have wanted.
Rosemarie gave generously of her time and heart to her community. For many years, she volunteered at Rainbow Springs State Park, delighting visitors as "Mrs. Claus" during the annual Santa Over the Rainbow event as well as Dunnellon Christmas Parade and could often be found spreading holiday cheer as Mrs. Santa in local eateries. Whether working the concession stand, crafting with the Crafty Ladies at Rainbow Springs State Park, or helping at the Community Thrift Shop, she embodied community spirit.
She never met a stranger. Around Dunnellon, she was often seen enjoying a meal at Sweeties, visiting the library, attending music nights and events at The Depot, or cheering on her favorite Elvis performer, Cote Deonath. She was also a big animal lover and rescued many dogs and cats throughout her life. She was a big believer in animal rescue.
Rosemarie and her husband, Juergen, shared a lifelong passion for good food and friendship. Together, they owned and operated delis for 40 years, later running a beloved ice cream, fast-food, and deli shop in Stone Ridge, New York. For two decades, she was also a proud member of the German American Club in Ocala, where she loved to dance and celebrate her heritage with friends.
Her warmth, laughter, and generosity touched everyone who knew her.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations in Rosemarie's memory may be made to an animal shelter in need: Paws and Claws, 7550 NW 50th St, Chiefland, FL 32626, or to The Greater Dunnellon Historical Society, P.O. Box 1836, Dunnellon, FL 34432.
