Rosemarie Renfroe

Rosemarie Ellis Renfroe of Dalton, GA passed away comfortably and peacefully on October 29, 2025. Born on March 30, 1941 in Mexicali, Mexico, Rose had a childhood full of adventure and travel, living in Mexico, Texas, New York, France, Germany and Nebraska, finally finishing high school at her first American public school in Tampa, Florida.
After finishing college at the University of Florida, Rose spent her professional life as a dedicated and respected educator, teaching special education in Brooks and Lowndes counties in south Georgia and of course here in Whitfield county.
More than anything, Rose loved spending time with her family where she always ensured a good time. Holidays were always extra special and Christmas at her house was the highlight of the year that everyone looked forward to. Summertime meant long hot days at the lake where a lifetime of memories were made for family and friends alike. After her family, her time and efforts were largely spent with her passion for gardening and arranging flowers. One could always assume she would be part of the team if flowers were involved at Dalton's St. Mark's Episcopal Church, which was the center of her social and especially her spiritual life.
Rose is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Mike Refroe of Dalton, her three sons Peek (SuHyon) Smith of Columbus, GA, Michael (Karen) Smith of Boise, ID, and Jonathan (Brenda) Renfroe of Dalton. She has a surviving sister, Evelyn Gadette of Salt Lake City, UT. Rose was also the proud grandmother of 5 grandchildren Christian Galloway (Luke), Laurel and Asher Renfroe, Alex and Devin Smith. She also leaves behind many wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Consuela Ellis.
Rose's celebration of life ceremony with be held at 1:00pm on Monday, November 10th, 2025, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 901 W Emery St, Dalton, GA.
A reception welcoming friends and family will begin in the St. Marks Parish Hall at 12:00 noon.
Donations may be made to Rosswoods Adult Day Care, or St. Marks Episcopal Church flower guild.
