Rosemary Bailey, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2025, at St. Andrew's Hospital in Bottineau, North Dakota.
Born Rosemary Meyer on August 20, 1926, in Karlsruhe, ND, she was the eldest of 14 children born to Anton and Dorothy (Steier) Meyer. Rosemary grew up in McHenry County and graduated from Granville High School in 1945.
On October 16, 1945, she married Vernon Bailey, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Granville. Together they built their life on the Bailey family farmstead in Denbigh, where they farmed, ranched, and raised their six children. Faith and family were always at the heart of her life, and she was a devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church until it closed, she then joined St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Towner.
Rosemary was active in her community and enjoyed her memberships in the Catholic Daughters, Prairie Rose Homemakers Club, and the Polkateers Dance Club. She cherished any occasion to gather with others whether at church, community dances, or family celebrations and was known for her warm smile and easy conversation.
Family was Rosemary's greatest joy. She was her children's and grandchildren's biggest cheerleader, proudly attending their sporting events and activities whenever she could. She was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She also found great happiness in simple pleasures-working at the Towner Bakery, crocheting beautiful keepsakes, dancing, and spending time with friends and family. Her kindness, humor, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Rosemary is survived by her children: Robert Bailey of Granville, ND; Terry (Kathy) Bailey of Towner, ND; Jon (Betty) Bailey of Maple Grove, MN; Randy (Joan) Bailey of
Minot, ND; and daughter Sheila Hanson of Fargo, ND. She is also survived by her siblings Don (Sondra) Meyer, Gary (Bonnie) Meyer, and Patti Bradford; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; her son, Larry; her son-in-law, Keith Hanson; her parents, Anton and Dorothy Meyer; her in-laws, Clyde and Agnes Bailey, brothers Joe, John, Lee, Gerald, Jack, and Bob; sisters Regina Shoopman, Dorothy Huseby, Kay McCreery, and Sally Gehringer; and many other beloved relatives.
