Remsen- Rosette E. (Peet) Austin, 78, of Joslyn Road, former longtime resident of Herkimer, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville.
Rosette was born on June 23, 1943, in the Town of Danube, Herkimer County, a daughter of Lester and Anna (Arndt) Peet. She grew up in Little Falls, where she received her education, later earning her Certified Nurse Assistant certificate. For many years, Mrs. Austin was employed as a CNA, at Herkimer Valley Health Service, Herkimer, until an injury forced her to retire.
On March 4, 1960, Rosette was married to Frank J. Austin, in Little Falls. In 1976, the couple were divorced.
She was an avid reader and also enjoyed putting puzzles together and crocheting.
Rosette is survived by her children; Mary (Christopher) Merry, Boonville, David Austin, Remsen, Scott Austin and his fiance Lori Caputo, Moria, NY, Teresa (Donald) Jordan-Lowell, Remsen. She was predeceased by a son, Dan Austin, November 4, 2017. Also surviving are grandchildren, great grandchildren and her siblings; William (Bernadette) Peet, Euthrate, NY, Charles (Barbara) Peet, Sprakers, NY, Katherine (Bruce) Balderston, Florida, Harold Peet, Little Falls and Eva Peet, Ilion, NY. She was predeceased by a great grandson, Ethan Vosburgh; three sisters, Dolores Austin, Irene Congdon and Sara Morse; a son in law, Stacy Jordan, a daughter in law, Theresa Austin and Juliann Austin and by a nephew, Raymond Austin.
A graveside service will be on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Church Street Cemetery, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 120 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502 or to The American Cancer Society, 100 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502. Her arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
