Rosezetta Schultz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hyke Funeral Home - Redfield on Sep. 16, 2025.
Rosezetta Jean "Rosie" Schultz, 78, of Redfield, SD, formerly of Pierre, passed away at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, on September 13, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Rosie was born in Ipswich, South Dakota, on September 15, 1946 to Jacob and Evalyn (Chase) Kukrall, and grew up in the Seneca area. She later made her home in Pierre before moving to Redfield to be closer to her family.

Rosie was well known for her warm smile, her collection of pigs, and her unforgettable hugs. She worked at the Seneca Café in Seneca, the Kozy Korner Café in Pierre, and Maryhouse in Pierre, where she made countless friends over the years. Rosie had a gift for connecting with people-whether over a cup of coffee or while playing on her computer, she brought joy and laughter to those around her.

In 1963, Rosie married Milo Schultz, and together they had six children before later divorcing.

She is survived by her sister:

Estella Moore of Redfield, SD, and her children, Kristin (Dustin), Kenneth, Melissa (Peyton, Byron Jr).

Her children:

• Jody Mason of Huron, SD, and her children Travis (Heather), Hope (Aaron), and Shelba
• Don (Jessica) Schultz of Canon City, CO, and their children Brittany, Jacob, Dalten, Emily, Nick, Zach, and Aspen
• Holly Schultz of Brandon, MS, and her children Todd and Emily
• Dallas (Amanda) Schultz of Redfield, SD, and their children Cameron, Karena, Michael Dean, Tyler, and Evan
• Nichole (Dan Smith) Schultz of Breckenridge, MN, and her children Abigail, Cody, and Alex

Rosie is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Evalyn Kukrall; her stillborn daughter, Shelly Kay; her son, David Buchholz; her brother, Robert Kukrall; her sister, Alice Engel; and her great-nephew, Thunder Phoenix.

A celebration of Rosie's life will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:30 am at the Redfield Wesleyan Church in Redfield, SD. Family and friends are invited to attend and share their memories. Rosie was cremated, and her ashes will be laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery in Seneca, SD, at a later date.

Rosie's service will be live-streamed through a link on the funeral home's website below her obituary. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home of Redfield (www.hykefuneralhome.com).

Rosie's kindness, humor, and ability to make everyone feel welcome will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
