Mrs. Rosie Banks

Rosie B. Banks was born on March 28, 1932 to Dewey and Fannie Overton. Rosie was the tenth of eleven children. She departed this life on Monday, September 7, 2025 at Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation, Elizabeth City, NC. Rosie attended Perquimans training school in 1938 and graduated in the 1950's. She encouraged all of her nieces and nephews to stay in school and press for greatness. She taught her nieces and nephews the Lord's Prayer and to sing yes, "Jesus love me." Rosie B. fell in love and married the love of her life Leroy Banks in 1952, he precedes her in death in 1997. Rosie was a God-fearing woman of faith. She was a member of Galatia Missionary Baptist Church. Rosie was an active member of the senior and mass choir, secretary of Sunday School, Pastor Aide, a Deaconess, and actively attended Bible study weekly. She remained faithful until her health declined. Rosie B. was always so prim and proper and very well kept. She was a beautiful lady and an excellent cook and cake baker. Rosie was famous for her 7-layer apple jelly cake and also her 7-layer chocolate cake. She loved cooking from the heart for her family. Rosie was a loving mother to all of her nieces, nephews, cousins and God-children. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Fannie Overton; her siblings, Brooker T, Narcissus, Levi, Warren, George, Cora, Bertha, William, Luther and Charles. Rosie B. Banks leaves to mourn her memories, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She is sincerely loved and will be greatly missed. Earth's loss is heaven's gain rest in peace Aunt Rosie.
