Mrs. Rosie Belle Ard, age 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at McLeod Health - Cheraw with her family by her side. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastors Brandon Skipper, Brandon Ard, and Brad Lewis with burial to follow in the Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 1:30 – 3:00 PM Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ard was born December 23, 1933 in Latta, SC a daughter of the late Joseph William “Joe” and Margaret Ellen Taylor Lane. She was a retired employee of Cheraw Yarn Mills with over 40 years of service and a faithful member of Middendorf Church of God, where she was affectionately known as “Grandma Rosie.” She was a faithful prayer warrior and a dedicated Sunday school teacher for over 30 years to the young children.
Mrs. Ard also had an amazing talent for baking, and was particularly known for her delicious 19-layer chocolate cake. She cherished spending time with her family, enjoying travels to the beach and going on cruises with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ard was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Liston E. Ard; granddaughter, Alison L. Ard; daughter-in-law, Pamela H. “Pam” Ard; and brothers, Woodrow Lane, Wade Hampton “Hamp” Lane, William Joseph “Jay” Lane, and George Lane.
Survivors include her children, Ronald Ezelle Ard and wife, Bonnie, Kenneth D. Ard, and Anne Lewis and husband, William all of Cheraw, SC; 7 grandchildren, Gwynn Lewis of Cheraw, SC, Chris (Tonya) Ard of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, Rev. Brad (Melanie) Lewis of Florence, SC, Bryan (Meredith) Ard of Moore, SC, Rev. Brandon (Meagan) Ard of Spartanburg, SC, and Brooke Ard (Jason) Maxwell of Clover, SC; 7 great grandchildren, Ashley (Rusty) Smith, Savannah Dover, Luke Lewis, Nicholas Ard, Tanner Lewis, Owen Lewis, and Ben Ard; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made to Middendorf Church of God at 16839 Hartsville-Ruby Road, Hartsville, SC 29550.
