Ross Boughner Martin 49, of Telluride, CO., passed away in his sleep on the morning of March 8th, 2025. His absence in the community will leave an incredible hole in all the hearts of those who knew him. Ross was a person of warmth and kindness to all who ever met him.
Ross was born in Philadelphia, January 22, 1976, but was raised in Centerville, Ohio after a brief stint in Midland, Mi. He fell in love with ice hockey, skiing and swimming at the early age of 7.
After a time at the University of Montana, Ross traveled to NYC to attend the French Culinary Institute of NY. That is where he began fine tuning his love for being a chef. When he completed his studies, the mountains were calling and he took off for Telluride, CO. and settled there November 1999. Spending the next 20+ years in the kitchens of Telluride, he and his co-chef Erich Owen achieved their ultimate goal of the opening of the original National, Petite Maison and the grandest of all The Grand restaurant in Telluride.
Besides his chef ability, and most importantly, he was endlessly devoted and proud of his three daughters. Ross was the "ultimate girl dad".
Ross is survived by his daughters, Lylah R Marin, Sofia C. Martin, and Ava L. Martin all of Telluride. His mother Nina S. Metzler (Jeffrey) of Bethlehem, PA; his father John E. Martin (Melinda) of Lower Gwynedd, PA; his brother Derek J. Martin of Los Angeles, CA; his girlfriend Lee C. Wallick of Ridgway, CO and his previous wife, Amanda Owen of Telluride, CO. He also leaves behind his loving dog, Luna. And of course, Ross had numerous relatives and friends who will miss his wonderful being.
A Celebration of life will be held in Telluride this summer on June 14, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the GOFUNDME.com in Ross's name to honor his three daughters.
