February 25, 2017
Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Walter Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Rowan D. Walter US Army Private 1st Class. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

On this day of solom rememberance, I reflect onthe briefest friendship which I had. In just 2 months, I began to know Rowan and his Lovely wife through church. They made each other smile and were eternally happy. I miss the friendship and above all the smile and light that they brought into the room. His selfless sacrifice in standing on the watch tower in defending ut "Title of Liberty" is one that we honor ahd hold in the highest regards. No thank you, medal or other recognition can place a valuable or compensation to such a devoted husband and friend to all who he touched.
Never forget and always loved.

Rowan,
My little brother, you were the cutest baby on this earth and I couldn't get enough of you. I loved taking care of you and holding you. Those nuturing and protective feelings never went away. There are so many things I want to express to you. I wish I would have written more letters and sent packages on your mission. I can't imagine how hard it was and I know you needed the comfort and solace from your family. I thought of you often but I didn't always show it or express it, but despite it all you, you returned with Honor and I was so happy to have you back in the states again. Eventually you made it down to LA
and worked and lived with Mark and I for a short time. I know life was tuff here and I wished I would have been there for you more and spent more time with you and made life easier. Too soon you left to join the Army. I was proud but scared. You left a boy and when you graduated bootcamp you came back a man. I saw you marry a special gental beautiful wife and then you were called to Irag. Again I didn't write you or send packages like a sister should. And then you were called back to your heavenly home. I'm so sorry for not doing all I could for you. You continue to teach me so many lessons from your beautiful life; Compassion, forgiveness, curiosity, love, charity, being an example, not judging and honor and so much more thank you for being a living example of all these things for our family needed you to show us the way. Now I get to have a brother on the other side helping us even more than ever. You have enriched my life and I know if I can be more like you I would live a great life. I know you wouldn't want me to carry this guilt you would want me to live life now. Just know that I adore you and I think of you often and cherish that I got to have you in my eternal family. Until we meet again.
P.S. Glad that you and Dad can keep
eachother company. Miss you both madly.
Love your Eternal Sister, Hailey

Hey battle,
So, it's been a little over a year now. I've been thinking about you a lot lately and the sacrifice you made for us. I don't know what else I can say except, thank you. There really aren't enough words to express my gratitude, but I figure you already know anyway.
I saw a movie today. Stop-loss. I know this sounds kind of cheesy, but it reminded me of you. You were always there for us and never left a single soldier behind. You made that your personal mission. Remember that day at the ladder? You truly saved my life that day and FYI, I had absolutely no idea you were so scared until you told me weeks later. You really kept me together. I will never be able to repay you, but wanted you to know that your service and heroism will never be forgotten. I will keep your lessons of faith and duty with me always. I'm sorry that you had to leave us so soon, but I know God has bigger plans for you. Thank you for your friendship and guidance.
To the family,
It saddens me to think of your loss. I can't even imagine what the past year must have been like for you, but please know that Rowan was and will forevermore be a true hero and I am proud to have served with him. I hope that his determination to protect his country gives you peace and I know that his dedication to service must bring honor upon your family. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful man with the world.
May God bless you always,
Rest In Peace

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Cher Rowan,
I want to dedicate this epitaph to your wife, Priscilla, that I couldn’t meet yet. Priscilla, be strong and proud of your husband. May you keep living with the happiness Rowan was so fond of, and love spring, as he so much did, for spring like life is a renewal.
Rowan Walter, you served a great nation. Unfortunately for us, who loved you, you were very diligent in achieving your heroic mission.
You will stay in our heart forever and so will everything you brought us. God bless you, God bless your courageous wife, and family. God bless the USA and let peace shed among His sheep.
Thank you for all, bro.

Rowan,
An outstanding Soldier through and through. I read your Commanding General's Award at the graduation ceremony for Charlie Company, 3d Battalion, 10th Infantry 23 November 2006. You deserved every bit of it. Your intellect, sense of humor, sense of courage, commitment and character are a role model to all Soldiers. Were there more like you.
I am very proud to have served with you 2005-2006 and would welcome any Soldier in my unit who remotely resembled you.
God must have needed you more.

Rowan,
I remember the first time I met you, at LAX waiting to begin our journey at basic. I fell asleep on the floor and you laid your jacket on me so that I would get cold. As I got to know you, I found that gestures such as that were typical for you, because you were such a kind and caring person. Thank you for all the laughs you brought to everyone during training. You helped your buddies get through everyday with your humor, advice, encouragement and sometimes with just your presence. I am honored to have known you, and you will never be forgotten.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

Row...what can I say? The last few days have been kind of rough, but I think most of us have realized many things through the legacy you will leave. You were one of the best people I have ever known, and everything you were is everything I can ever hope to be...besides a Mormon (chuckle). I still can't believe I know the bible as well as you do! We've always had our days...but I will forever carry on your memory because other people will be able to see through me that my life was made more meaningful and worth living because you were always there to bring me the peace and joy of a friend who loved me always, just for being me. I am priveleged for having been apart of your life. You live on through many, and we will never stop wishing that you were still here and praying that we will soon see you again. Save me a seat, will ya? I love you!

Rowan,
You, my friend, personify heroism even though you didn't give it one thought. We are soldiers and we do our jobs but you sacrificed the ultimate sacrifice and for that I am pleased to call you my friend. I am grateful that I can call you my "battle [buddy]". I know you're in a peaceful place now and I know you have no worries. You were hilarious, my friend. You are missed! Thank you for helping me in LA with acting. I thought it was ironic that you joined the active army and I started acting when at first I joined the reserves and you were acting. I am mindful of your family and Priscilla every minute as of late and I am sorry that they are going to miss you.
Priscilla,
I love you like my little sister and I know that this is devastating! You, too, are a warrior and have sacrificed beyond what anyone should have to sacrifice and perhaps, maybe, even more so than we think. Sally and I love you and will always be there for you. Time will heal this event in your life. You will always be in love with your best friend and confidant. But he hasn't been taken away from you for eternity. It's only a short time that he's been removed from the clutches of your loving grasp. That may not help now, but hopefully, in time, it gives you some medicine to heal your, now, wide-open wounds. If you ever need to talk then please do not hesitate to call me. We've always been able to talk about anything and that will never change!
Rowan's family,
I don't know your name, sir, but you, Brother Walter once told me at Rowan's and Priscilla's wedding reception that you were thankful to me for being an example to Rowan by being in the Army and his decision to leave the "Hollywood acting thing" and to turn his life around and do something productive. I thought it was ironic that he led me to acting (but I only act as a hobby). I love the Army. I believe that Rowan did, too. I am sorry that you had to lose him to his career. However, I have seriously pondered this and can think of no better sacrifice than that of your own life for your brother's and I truly feel that Rowan did that. I am grateful to you and your wife, Sister Walter, for bringing him into this life, raising him to be an above average good man, and supporting him for his desire to serve his country. I regret his loss only because it's a loss to your family and Priscilla. The Gospel is true, though, and we know he's teaching the Gospel now to others who need it. To him it may be a glimmer of time before we are all reunited. To us it's a lifetime. We must endure to the end and at least have faith that we will be reunited.
I'm hanging in there because I will one day see Rowan again and be able to hug him and shake his hand and personally say, "Thank you, my dear friend! I appreciate you!"
God bless you Rowan! God bless you Priscilla! God bless you and your family, Brother Walter. God bless America!!
With Love and Sincere Gratitude,
Michelle Johnson

Rowan, you were one amazing being. I say that because i trained beside you and saw the medic you were, and the person inside that medic. You had one contagious way of making people smile and laughing through the hard times. I will always remember you for your heart and your humor. I look back on the days we trained together and at that time it never even crossed my mine that one day, my headgear that you so kindly thought you would autograph, would be the only thing that i have left to keep of you besides wonderful memories. I can truely say that the world is a lesser of a place without your bright smile and crazy ideas, but you gave us memories that will shine in our hearts forever. RIP Rowan Walter, my friend and fellow soldier. " The person makes the soldier, the soldier doesn't make the person."

To Rowan's family and friends:
Rowan and I were missionaries together in Neuchatel, Switzerland for 3 months. It was a rough part of my mission, and I thank God that I had Rowan to cheer me up. We worked hard together. We had many spiritual experiences together. We often walked along the lake of Neuchatel together. We pigged out on Raclette. He even taught me to use a tanning booth :) He was one of the few people from my mission that came to my wedding 4 years ago.
I pray that God support his wife through this trial, for the weight of this loss crushes me, and I know that it is but a small fraction of her pain.
Nevertheless, he's one of the people who is certain to end up in the right place, and I am excited to see him there someday.

I am grateful and proud to have know Rowan Walter. For six weeks, we lived and worked together in Montbeliard, France as missionaries for our Church. Rowan was a hard-worker and very committed to what he believed in. He was selfless and enjoy helping others- not for his benefit, but for theirs. He always had a positive attitude and I don't remember him ever complaining during those six weeks. During some of our down-time, he would tell me all sorts of stories about our missionary work or his life with all of his life plans. Rowan was a good man and I appreciate his selfless service for his Faith and his Country. May God bless his family and friends.

Rowan...its funny how time doesnt seem to severe all friendships. The days of playing football in the street, wrestling, and wandering campus seem long away, but they will be something I will always remember. I seem to have found myself in this country for the third time...kindred spirits and those willing to protect a legacy follow each other I guess. You will be missed brother and though I dont know your wife, my prayers go out to her and your parents.

Father we entrust our brother Rowan to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Rowan in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathy.

To the Family and Friends of Pfc. Rowan D. Walter:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

My Deepest and most heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Pfc. Rowan D. Walter.
The price this Brave Young Soldier and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, Will Never Be Forgotten.
There is so much thanks to be given, to these young heroes, for their Courage, Dedication and Service.
May Rowan rest safely in God's Care and may God's Loving Peace and Comfort be with the Walter family.
I am the sister of such a young hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.
"Wait on the Lord, be of good courage
and He shall strengthen your heart"
~ Psalm 27:14 ~
May the Peace of God and the memories of Rowan, remain in your heart always.
May this give you comfort and strength through the difficult days ahead.
~ Softly and slowly, time heals.~
