Rowena Jean Bolin

Mrs. Bolin was the most wonderful teacher. She inspired me to want to grow up and pursue a career in education. I can remember her keeping us very busy and always made the effort to teach us a few interesting things that weren't on the syllabus. Every morning she had us chart on a calendar the time of the sunrise and the sunset in order to teach us how the days grew longer and shorter at different times of the year, little rhymes to help us remember how things were spelled and so many other little things that I can still remember all these years later. We ended every day with a hug and at Christmas time she bought us all books to read over the winter break because she felt reading was such a fundamental skill for us. She was especially kind to me as my family knew her family many years prior to me becoming one of her students. She was more than just a teacher, she was in a league all of her own. It was one of the most fulfilling years I spent in school and I am forever grateful that I got the privilege to be one of her students. The world is a lesser place without this sweet lady in it. Sending prayers and my sincerest condolences to Kerry and his brothers and the rest of the Bolin family at this very difficult time.
