Roxanne Dawn Johnson, age 55 of Yankton, SD passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Visitation is 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. wake, Thursday, February 15 at Goglin Funeral Home in Yankton. Funeral services begin 11 a.m. Friday, February 16 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Yankton.
Roxanne was born December 1, 1968 to Aaron and Darlene (Stone Arrow) Johnson in Burke, South Dakota. She studied psychology at Northern State University in Aberdeen. Roxanne made her home in Yankton where she was employed at Applied Engineering for 30 years as a final inspector, ensuring quality and specifications of highly complex machine parts.
She was a lifelong Vikings fan and had a vast collection of purses and jewelry. Roxanne had enormous respect for her Indigenous culture. Her charismatic personality allowed her to make friends wherever she went. She enjoyed live music entertainment, especially metal and rock. Roxanne was a strong, formidable woman, a caring and mindful mother and a fiercely protective grandmother. She was always a pillar of strength and a reliable source of support for her loved ones, offering guidance and advice to help navigate difficult situations.
Roxanne is survived by her son, Zachary Johnson; granddaughter, Lily Johnson; brother, Andy (Hope) Johnson; sisters, Gayle Stone Arrow and Andrea (Aaron) Bernal and companion, Chris Savage.
She is preceded in death by her father, Aaron Johnson, Sr.; mother, Darlene Stone Arrow-Johnson; brother, Aaron "Junior" Johnson, Jr. and sister, Jacqueline Johnson.
