CUMBERLAND

Roy E. Avery, 76, of Cumberland passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at Summit Commons in Providence. He was the husband of the late Janice I. Kendall.

Born in Dorchester, MA he was the son of the late Gordon and Edith Avery.

Following high school he was a combat engineer in the United States Marines serving during the Vietnam War. He served his country with honor earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one star, and the Vietnamese Campaign Medal.

Mr. Avery was employed as a Truck Driver for the former PDC Inc. of Ashland, MA.

Roy was a dedicated and passionate New England Sports fan. He enjoyed Home Improvement and Renovation shows on television, listening to music, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He leaves his children, Nichola Kendall, Deidre Kendall, Jason Kendall, Jeffrey Kendall and Roy Kendall, all of Cumberland; his fourteen grandchildren, Briana, Tre', Mario, Jayden, Kian, Tori, Jayace, Mason, Keanna, Brylen, Cassius, and Leila; and his great-grandson, Colin. He also leaves his sister, Carolyn Wilmot

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Roy's Life Celebration to be held with Visitation on Friday, January 9, 2025 from 10 am to 12 NOON in the J J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt.122, Cumberland. A prayer service will be held at 11:30 AM. Burial with military honors will follow at RI Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
