Roy Colvin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Care Cremation & Funeral Service - Eastland Drive on Feb. 16, 2026.
Roy Roger Colvin passed away on February 14, 2026, at home surrounded by the love of his life and his children. He was born in East Point, Kentucky, on August 6, 1943. His family moved to Dunham, Kentucky, shortly after his birth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Lorraine Colvin; his son, Dwaine Allen Colvin; and his great-grandson, David Michael Salyer.

He attended Jenkins High School and graduated in 1961.

Roger thoroughly enjoyed outdoor activities while growing up and spent many days and nights hunting and fishing that continued for as long as he was able.

Roger was drafted into the United States Army in 1964 and served four years, spending time stationed in England and Massachusetts. During his first marriage he welcomed two children, Wenda and Dwaine.

Later, he married the love of his life, his best friend and soulmate, Loretta, and they shared 54 wonderful years together. They truly completed one another in every way. Their marriage was built on love, loyalty, laughter, and faith. During their marriage, they welcomed two daughters, Selena and Cheryl, completing their family.

Roger's primary hobby was shortwave radio. He earned his license and became an active member of his local radio club.

Roger loved his family deeply. He was a devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Above all, Roger loved God.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Loretta; his sisters, Barbara Fair and Rosemary Colvin; his children: Wenda Hawks; Selena and Sean Salyer; and Cheryl and James Ragsdale; his grandchildren, Dakota, Chayton, Brandon, Brady, Breauna, Brian, Mackenzie, Hannah, Andrew, Karra, Josh, and Mackenzie; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Roger was truly one of a kind and was loved by everyone who knew him. He will be missed beyond measure.
