Roy Cundiff Obituary

Roy Elbert Cundiff, 91, of Eastview, passed away Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, in the presence of his children.

Roy was born Oct. 28, 1934, to the Rev. Elbert Cundiff and Irene Goodman Cundiff. In December 1953, Roy married Evelyn Nichols. He worked at Kroger in Louisville for 17 years. In 1971, he and Evelyn purchased a grocery and operated Roy's Food Mart located at Four Corners. Later the same year, Roy stepped in to substitute for the Eastview mail carrier. Upon the untimely death of the postman, Roy became the mailman and faithfully served for 25 years having never taken a sick day.

During their 47 years at Eastview farm, Roy often preached for local churches. Eventually he pastored for more than 20 years at Good Shepherd Independent Baptist Church in Summit. Psalm 37:23 states "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way." Roy was a faithful husband, a kind father, exhibiting/maintaining a steady dependable character to his grandchildren and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Evelyn; their son, Leo; his parents, Elbert and Irene Cundiff; a sister and two brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl (Frank) Fraze of Eastview; a son, Timothy Cundiff of Rome, Georgia; two brothers, Marvin (Doris) Cundiff of Sarasota, Florida, and Darvin Cundiff of Cecilia; a sister, Sue Cundiff Eidson of Rineyville; five granddaughters, four grandsons, nine great-granddaughters and a great-grandson.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
