Roy E. Dexter, Jr., 73, of Derry, NH died peacefully with family at his side on Wednesday November 1, 2023 at Parkland Medical Center. Roy was born in Derry on October 13, 1950, a son of the late Roy E. Dexter Sr. and Florence (Kessler) Dexter. Roy had been a lifelong resident of Derry.
Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with his family. He also dedicated much of his time to fixing things around the house, ensuring a never-ending supply of firewood, and looking for bargains.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeanine Dexter of Derry, one son; Bryan Dexter and his wife JoAnne of Manchester, NH, one daughter; Dawn McDonough and her husband Patrick of Westford, MA, two grandchildren; Evan and Mitchell Dexter, three step-grandchildren; Thomas, Ryan, and Connor McDonough, three sisters; Claradell Anderson and her husband, Frederick of Epsom, NH, Lauren Baker and her husband Charles of New Canaan, CT, and Sharon Tower and her partner Douglas Brown of Deerfield, NH, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Wednesday November 8, 2023 from 5 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Catholic prayers will be offered at 6:45pm. Private burial will be in the NH State Veteran's Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
