OPELOUSAS- A Funeral Service will be held for Roy Doucet on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 1:15 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 12:45 p.m. by Deacon Dwayne Joubert with services to follow. Deacon Dwayne Joubert will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Roy Doucet, born on September 26, 1940, in Church Point, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, at The Calcutta House, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and warmth that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Roy devoted thirty years of his life to a fulfilling career as a salesman at G&B Battery, where he became known not just for his professionalism but also for his kind spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Roy had a rich array of hobbies and interests that reflected his vibrant personality. He had a passion for country and western movies and an unyielding love for classic country music, often reminiscing about the timeless tunes that spoke to his heart. Friends and family could often find him enjoying boxing matches or indulging in a ritual of watching Friday night fights, reveling in the excitement of each thrilling moment.
Roy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Brown Doucet; son, Gregory Doucet and wife Jade; daughter, Darlene Courvelle and husband, Daryl; sister, Burna Boudreaux and husband Peter; 6 grandchildren, Daniel Courvelle, Derrick Courvelle, Dakota Courvelle, Thomas Doucet, Ella Doucet and Jack Doucet; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Roy is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Pamela Ursula Doucet; parents Leo Doucet and Ursula Comeaux Doucet; brother, Willie Doucet; sisters, Mary Britt and Merlyn Harville
Pallbearers will be Gregory Doucet, Daniel Courvelle, Derrick Courvelle, Jason Lantier, Glen Brown and Troy Pitre.
Roy will be best remembered for his unwavering love for his family and friends. His nurturing spirit and joyful approach to life created cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.
