Roy Hopkins Obituary
Roy's first eleven years were spent in the ship building town of Port Glasgow, where his father was a pipefitter at the shipyard. His father moved to the United States to find work and once his father was situated in Oak Lawn, he and his mother (Margaret) and three sisters (Maureen, Helen and Elizabeth) immigrated to the US. He attended Oak Lawn High School and quickly established himself as a bright and capable student.
After high school, Roy's first job was at United Airlines. This is where he met his first wife, Violette Hopkins (Pote).
Roy then embarked on a fulfilling career with RR Donnelley & Sons, where he was known for his dedication and expertise. His colleagues respected him, and he formed lasting friendships that continued into his retirement. Roy's work ethic and commitment to his job were exemplary, making him a valued member of the company until his retirement.
Roy's life was enriched by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Nancy Lee Hopkins (Brogden), who stood by him through life's many chapters. Together, they shared a bond that was unwavering and full of mutual respect and affection. Roy was predeceased by his cherished first spouse, Violette Hopkins, his son Steven and his sisters Maureen, Helen and Elizabeth. He was a proud father to his son Rob Hopkins (Debbie), and his daughter Barbara Rossi. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Claire (Avery), Jeff (Reece), Kevin, Katie, Jordan and Danny.
Roy's legacy is one of love, hard work, and dedication to the things that mattered most to him. As we bid farewell to a man who touched the lives of so many, we celebrate the time we were fortunate to share with him. Roy B. Hopkins will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to inspire and comfort those he left behind.
