Roy Houck Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Troy B. Smith Professional Services on Nov. 11, 2024.
Deacon Roy Alton Houck was born on December 9, 1950, to John Temple Houck and Allenia Canada Houck in Goliad, Texas. He was one of seven siblings that came from this union. He attended school and graduated from Goliad High School. He participated in the band playing the saxophone. After graduation, he moved to Houston. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, Brother, PaPa, Uncle, and a cherished friend to many. He inspired others through his generosity, kind spirit, and the joy and warmth that he brought to those he encountered. He will always be remembered for his encouraging words, unwavering support, and his kind, quiet way of touching everyone that he crossed paths with.
Roy worked at Baker Hughes for 35 years. After retiring from Baker's, he took the position of delivery driver with House of Blooms where he worked alongside his brother, Sister-in-law, niece, nephew, and beloved co-workers for 15 years. He had a passion for his job and the people that he delivered to, offering a caring smile, encouragement, and a prayer of healing for those who were sick.
Roy was united in holy matrimony on August 4, 1973 to the love of his life, Betty Gray in Taft Texas. They shared precious moments together for 51 years. To this union a daughter was born, Robin A. Houck followed in time by two awesome granddaughters, Destiny & Jayde. Roy's family united with New Faith Church in the early 1980's where he served on the usher board. He was ordained as a deacon while attending New Faith Church. He remained a faithful member until God called him home.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, and oldest brother, Dr. Morris Temple Houck. He also leaves to cherish the many amazing memories his Wife, Daughter (Jason), grandchildren Destiny & Jayde, Brothers Clarence Houck (Gayle) & Allen Houck (Patricia); Sisters: Myrtlene Houck, Brenda Wade (Jesse) and Altha Clemons (Dewayne). He leaves a host of nieces & nephews, cousins, and a God-daughter, Christena Adams.
Although we know that God called your name, we will forever hold you close in hearts. You are leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and treasured memories. We have peace knowing that you have seen the Savior and heard words we should all long to hear: "Well Done thy good and faithful Servant!" Rest well!
