It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roy Oscar Houff Jr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, and successful entrepreneur. Roy was born on December 25, 1941, and peacefully departed this world on September 14, 2023. He was 81 years old.
Roy was a devoted husband to Susan Houff, and together they recently celebrated their remarkable 60th wedding anniversary, a testament to their enduring love and commitment to one another. He was a dedicated father to his daughters Tracy (Ray) Anderson and Jill (Miro) Vejchoda. His pride and joy extended to his cherished grandchildren: Griffin (Samantha Agnich) Anderson, Cameron Anderson, Spencer Anderson, Carson Tabachka, and Trey Tabachka.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Houff Sr. and Alice Houff, and his sister Jean (Fred) Pavoggi. He leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Hinsdale, Illinois, Roy was a visionary entrepreneur who made a significant impact in the floral industry. In 1977, he founded The Roy Houff Company, a wholesale florist that grew to become a nationwide company serving florists and grocery stores. His dedication, hard work, and innovative spirit were the driving forces behind the success of his business.
Roy was not only a man of great business acumen but also possessed a unique fashion sense that was admired by many. His impeccable style was characterized by his dapper attire and an innate ability to effortlessly combine classic elegance with a modern twist. Whether he was attending a business meeting or social gathering, Roy's fashion choices were always a reflection of his refined taste and attention to detail.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Roy had a passion for cars and golf. He was a member of prestigious golf clubs, including Whisper Rock, Butler National, and Desert Highlands and past member of Ruth Lake Country Club. Among his favorite memories were the moments spent with close friends and employees at Whisper Rock, where he shared his love for the game and created lasting bonds.
Roy was known for his generosity and kindness. He treated everyone he met with equal respect and had a unique ability to make people feel valued and appreciated. His infectious laughter and captivating storytelling brought joy to those around him.
In accordance with Roy's wishes, there will be no formal services. Instead, his family invites all who knew him to remember and celebrate his life in their own special way. Roy's legacy lives on through the memories he created and the love he shared with his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to Hospice of the Valley or the Mayo Clinic in
Scottsdale, Arizona, in Roy's honor. Roy Oscar Houff Jr. will be deeply missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
