A Mass of Christian Burial for Roy Jenkins, 84, of Ville Platte, Louisiana, who passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church at 10:00 am, with Father Stephen Pellessier officiating the service. Burial will follow at Gates of Heaven.
He was a dedicated father, grandfather, and a devoted friend to many, known for his compassion and unwavering loyalty to his loved ones. Roy was born on March 14, 1940 in Newport News, Virginia. He dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving his country as a proud United States Army Veteran. Roy courageously completed three tours in Vietnam and served a total of 17 years with the Army, exemplifying his commitment to duty and sacrifice. His spirit of service extended beyond his military career, as he devoted 33 years to the Ville Platte Police Department, generously sharing his time and efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of his community.
Roy is survived by his two sons, Mark and wife Mitzi of Ville Platte, Craig Jenkins of Grand Prairie, as well as a host of grandchildren including Coree Carter, Brendan Jenkins, Lindsey Ingle, Jacob LeBas, Emily Ortego; and great-grandchildren Damien, Leanna, Corbyn, Gatlin, Braylee, Wyatt, Noah, Atty Mae, Teche, Rhemy, Odette, Marie Louise. His memory will also be cherished by his brother, Paul Jenkins (Natalie).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Alfred and Winnie Kingrey Jenkins, and his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann Jenkins.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte, beginning on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Rosary will be prayed by Deacon Ben Soileau at 6:00 pm that evening. Visitation will resume on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 8:00 am until the time of the service, allowing all who knew and loved Roy to come together in a spirit of remembrance and support.
