Roy Johnson, a devoted Pastor of Faith Temple Assembly of God in Dallas for 42 years, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2023, at Midlothian Medical Center. He was born to William Brooks Johnson and Viola Elizabeth Northcutt on April 26, 1940, in Paris, Texas.
Roy was a caring and loving person who devoted his life to serving God and his community. Throughout his 42 years as a Pastor of Faith Temple Assembly of God of Dallas, he touched countless lives with his kind and compassionate heart. His dedication to helping those in need was unwavering, and he always put others before himself.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nellie Ruth Johnson; children: Mary Renea Thigpen (Danny), Roy Wayne Johnson (Raquel), Teresa Kay Dunaway (Jason); one son preceded him in death: Kenneth David Johnson; grandchildren: Roderique Courson, Kenneth Johnson, Jacob Dunaway, Brandon Thigpen, Dustin Thigpen, Mia Johnson, Leesa Courson, Jamie Dunaway, granddaughter Sarah Michelle Courson who preceded Roy in death, and eleven great-grandchildren.
In addition to being a loving husband and father to his family members spanning four generations, Roy had a special place in the hearts of his brother, John Johnson (Jean), sister, Kathryn Sue Greer, and two brothers that have preceded Roy in death: David Johnson and Danny Johnson. The church family at Faith Temple Assembly of God of Dallas and special friends in Duncanville also meant the world to him.
While Roy's passing leaves a deep void for all who knew him and loved him deeply throughout the years of his ministry at Faith Temple Assembly of God of Dallas, we are comforted by the knowledge that he has gone home to be with his Creator. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched during his time on earth.
Rest In Peace Reverend M. Roy Johnson.
