Roy Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Massey Funeral Home on Feb. 28, 2026.
Roy Michael "Mike" Jones, 66, passed away with his loving family at his side on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4 in the Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jeremy Belk officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in Union Ridge Cemetery.

Mike was born May 26, 1959, to Buck and Doris Stanley Jones in Louisville. He attended East Central Community College where he earned a degree as an electrician. Mike was an active member of the Smallwood Hunting Club, where he formed lasting friendships and spent many hours enjoying the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and especially loved running his deer dogs. Some of his happiest moments were spent around the campfire, sharing stories and laughter with his friends.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Pat McMurry Jones of Carthage, Mississippi; and his children: Candace (Justin) Bingham of Eupora, Mississippi, Jennifer (Trae) Collum also of Eupora, Jonathan Coward of Carthage, Corey (Jessica) Dorman of Beebe, Arkansas, and Mahalia (Randy) Pigg also of Carthage. One of his greatest joys was being "PawPaw" to his 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mike is also survived by his siblings: Clay Jones, Kathy (Alan) Donald, and Steven (Lisa) Jones; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Serving as pallbearers are Mike Whitehead, Trent Whitehead, Trey Whitehead, Michael Kilpatrick, Devon Vowell, and Jacob Townsend. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Smallwood Hunting Club and his co-workers at Winston Plywood & Veneer. Memorial contributions in honor of Mike may be given online to Camp Tanglewood toward a hunt for special needs children at camptanglewood.com/give.
