Roy Paul Lorenz, Jr., age 89, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Seminole Shores Living Center. Roy was born November 26, 1936 in Muskegon to Roy P. and Orpha (Hage) Lorenz, Sr. and lived all of his life in the area. Roy enjoyed a 62-year career as a structural engineer working most of his life at Steel Supply and Engineering and doing consulting work before he retired at the age of 81 in 2017. On May 25, 1957, he married Peggy L. Weathers at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Muskegon. Roy was a longtime member at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where he served as President of the Finance Council for 20 years and was instrumental in the building of the current sanctuary. Roy was a key part of the team that led the renovation of St. Andrews Cathedral Square in Grand Rapids where he was bestowed the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Medal by Pope Benedict and Bishop Walter Hurley. Roy was past president of Harbor Hospice, past president of the Easter Seals, past president of Catholic Social Services (now Catholic Charities West Michigan) and had served on the building committee for Prince of Peace Catholic Church when the current sanctuary was built. Roy was an avid Michigan State fan and watched Detroit Tigers and Lions games with great passion. He coached his sons' teams and attended hundreds of games played by his sons and grandsons. Survivors include his loving wife, Peggy Lorenz; 4 sons, Matt (Luann) Lorenz, Tracy (Sandra) Lorenz, Nick (Janice) Lorenz, Chris (Sue) Lorenz; 5 grandchildren, Joey Lorenz, Jack Lorenz, Will Lorenz, Q Lorenz, Mia (Alex) DeBour; and their extended family, Mi Pham, Loan and David Nyguen, Nhu Ngo, Kha and Christina Ngo, Adam and Daisha Ngo. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held 10-11AM Saturday, February 21, 2026 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 2929 McCracken Street,
