Roy Marshall Obituary
EAST BERNE - Roy Douglas Marshall "Doug," 82, passed away Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, 2025, with family at his bedside, in St. Peter's Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer. His roots in the area ran deep, continuing the family legacy at the R.D. Marshall & Co., Inc. HVAC company, and raising two daughters with his beloved wife, Margaret "Midge" Rowley Marshall.
A more fulsome obituary will run next Sunday once his daughter, Cindy, can pare down a life well-lived and a father greatly loved to a manageable size.
He leaves behind sister, Janet Sue Erickson, and her husband Jerry Erickson; daughter, Cynthia Marshall St. Jean; and son-in-law, James David St. Jean; daughter, Pamela Sue Marshall; and grandsons, James Douglas and Christopher Ryan St. Jean.
The family will receive visitors at Applebee Funeral Home, in Delmar, N.Y., on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Doug was a good friend at the Albany Academy, in lower school and upper school. Great fun and a great athlete. Very sad to hear the news.

Doug was an outstanding athlete in several Academy sports. Two of them were league champions: Doug was a hard-hitting football lineman and a winning member of the track team, but he may have been most notable as a swimmer: Holder of two school records (40-yard freestyle and freestyle relay). We exchanged greetings at several reunions; I'll miss him at our 65th.
