Roy and I had a wonderful time during the fifties working together at Steve´s Bingo in Asbury Park.
We often went horseback riding and swimming at his, I think, Allenhurst swim Club.
He taught me how to drive his 1950 or so Ford and helped me pass the driving test.

Roy was a wonderful friend and full of life. Never forget him.

I'm so very late in learning of Roy's passing. I just had a feeling to check to see if I could find Roy on the internet and unfortunately now in 2021 learn of this sad happening.

Back in 1952 and 1953 I spent the summers in Asbury Park , NJ and met Roy. We had so much fun together those two summers as we were inseparable. We worked together on the ASBURY boardwalk at Steve's Bingo. We went swimming, horseback riding and on his motorcycle. He taught me to drive his Ford and helped me pass the drivers test for my license.

His Mom and Dad were so very kind to me as I often slept at his house after late night of work. His mom made us breakfast every time.

He had a girlfriend named Nina who would come to wake him up and see him in the morning often. She was a sweet and lovely young lady.

He wanted me to go back to Allenhurst to work with him "sling hash" as he reported to me in 1954. I would have liked to but that was the summer that I was preparing to go to college and needed to stay home in Newark, NJ to prepare for my education away from home.

Great memories of a great person.

Rest in Peace Roy,

Your old friend Len

Not a day goes by that memories or advice from my pop pop don’t grace my life. He should be proud to know that he lived a life that made a difference in the lives of others. My pop pop didn’t sugar coat things and that is what I loved the most about him. When the days are rough (which seems far to often in the current state of the world) his advice puts a smile on my face. One of my favorites (not at the time ) was “suck it up champ. Life’s not fair”. That never failed to make me see the bigger picture and to be stronger than I thought I was. I love you pop pops. Your life was a blessing. I miss you!

Roy called me in December. We discussed a video he thought I would like. He mentioned about how many of the people in the video are no longer with us. How shocking to find he had gone on to join them, as we all will do. Bless you Linny, Betty and Debbie; find peace.

Cousin Roy, or as our Mother had us call him, Uncle Roy. He was one "cool dude". I remember many a barbeque at his house, hanging out in the garage while he worked on his stock car. He tried to convince my Dad to buy mutual funds, and he always came over to the house when the TV was on the blink, with his case of tubes. He always told jokes in his Curtis fashion (that was his mother's maiden name.)
He rarely sat still, always working on his next project, whether it be the house or something to help support his family. He was handy as a builder of things. Just so many memories, far too many to recall here. And you just posted something on my Facebook page a few days ago. You will be sorely missed. I love you. Now enjoy the peace you so deservedly need.

Uncle Roy or little Roy was what I called Roy Neely. I remember when he came to our house on Cedar Street in Oakhust with a set of barbell weights to build muscle. I used these but was still a skinny boy growing up. I like visiting his home in Oakhurst he raced stock cars in Freehold and I thought that was so cool. Roy and Marion always opened their hearts and home to me and my family. I am great full for his love. Roy was a hard working guy and I had a lot of respect for his ambition and success. I know that god has a plan for his future. Peace be with you and your family.

Pop pop,
Words cannot express the gratitude I have for you. You, without hesitation, took me in and raised me as your own. You did it with endless devotion, love, and an energy I (even at 35 years old) struggle to find.
There is no question you gave me a life I otherwise would have never known.
You taught me strength, humility, and the importance of hard work. You gave me a strong foundation centered in God and it was a blessing I was able to see you live your life. You are an amazing man and I have no doubt you will watch over my family and keep us strong. I am so grateful my children were able to know you. We will forever keep pop pops in our hearts and live a life he would be proud of.
Love you,
Natalee, Andres, Isabella, Giovanni
