Roy C. Nyffeler, of Columbus, died Monday, June 30, 2025, at Columbus Community Hospital.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home. Private interment is in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Roy Calvin Nyffeler was born March 9, 1931, in Columbus to Julius and Lillian (Hegi) Nyffeler. He grew up in rural Columbus where he was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke's and graduated from Kramer High School. He served in the Army National Guard. Roy married Louise Ernst on June 21, 1958, at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus.

Following high school, Roy worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for nine years and he worked for Lincoln Telephone for four years. Roy then farmed north of Duncan starting in 1961 until he retired and moved to Columbus in 1991. In his retirement, he continued to help with work at the farm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching Nebraska Football and Volleyball. He was a member of the Eagles Club, Duncan Volunteer Fire Department, and the National Rifle Association.

Roy is survived by: daughter, Barb (Tony) Romano of West Fork, Ark., daughter, Brenda Witter of Omaha; son, Bryan (Tracy) Nyffeler of Casper, Wyo., son, Brent (Mary) Nyffeler of Columbus; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by: wife, Louise Nyffeler; parents, Julius and Lillian Nyffeler; brother, Harold (Betty) Nyffeler, brother, Lee (Jean) Nyffeler and brother, Wallace (Imogene) Nyffeler.
