Went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at the age of 90. Born on May 16, 1935, to John and Izorah (Mason) Pitts in Barryton, Michigan. Roy grew up to be a loving, supportive, and generous individual who touched the lives of many. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a trusted friend. His life was marked by relentless love, shared laughter, and the creation of countless cherished memories.

Roy was a remarkable man who never failed to make a difference, whether it was in his professional life or his personal relationships. His career spanned many fruitful years at General Motors, where he held the position of Supervisor until his well-deserved retirement in 1988. Roy's generosity and supportive nature extended beyond his family. As a proud 57-year member of AA, he held many titles, including a sponsor and public speaker. He was a beacon of hope for many, guiding them along their journey towards recovery.

Roy was a man of many passions. He found great joy in woodworking, creating beautiful furniture pieces that family and friends will cherish for years to come. His spirit of adventure led him to explore the great outdoors, frequently embarking on fishing and camping trips to Rice Lake in Canada. An ardent fan of the Detroit Tigers, he rarely missed a game. But his most treasured moments were spent square dancing with his beloved wife, Joan, and their Shooting Stars group. For many years, he and Joan wintered in Mesa, Arizona, where he bowled on a senior league, volunteered at the community wood-shop, and made many lasting friendships.

Roy leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Joan Pitts; children, Randy (Brenda) Pitts, Valerie Bergey, Vickie Knoblauch, Gary Pitts, Jessica (Pete) Bucholtz as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his children, Michael Bergey, Phillip Bergey, Brenda (Kelly) Edwards; son-in-law, Kerm Howard; brother, Don Pitts; step-sister, Pauline as well as his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, December 5, 2025 at Skinner Funeral Home, 101 W. Jolly Rd. Lansing, MI 48910. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday starting at 11:00 a.m. for visitation. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society in Roy's name.
