Roy Shepherd

Roy Turner Shepherd, 89, of Lindon passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024 surrounded by his family. Roy was born October 6, 1934 in Orem, Utah to John William and Merinda Annie Turner Shepherd. He married Loa Glee Young on September 9, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Roy grew up in Orem and graduated from Lincoln High School. Roy loved to hike and be in the outdoors. He climbed Timpanogos many times and later included his children in getting to the top. He loved to hunt and camp and spend time in the outdoors with his family. When traveling he and Loa attending many major league baseball games around the country. Roy and Loa enjoyed being in their yard and was honored by Lindon City for the most beautiful yard of the year.
Roy worked at Geneva Steel for many years and retired after 35 years of service. He later worked at a home for trouble youth and enjoyed his association with young people.
He is survived by his wife Loa; three children: Clint (Nedra) Shepherd, Wallsburg, UT; Patricia Ann Stoddard, Mesa, AZ and Sherry (Dan) Hodges, Albuquerque, NM; 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and brother, Wes Shepherd, Springville, UT. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and two granddaughters: Rebecca and Lisa.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Lindon Fourth Ward Chapel, 731 East Center Street, Lindon, Utah. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:00 - 10:45 am prior to the services. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
