Roy Simmons Obituary

Roy Earl Simmons was born on September 19, 1963, in Fort Worth, Texas, at Peterson Hospital. Throughout his life, he spent much of his time between Texas and Tulsa, Oklahoma, living with a free spirit and always choosing to live life on his own terms. On January 16, 1986, he married Tammy Harmon, beginning a chapter of life that would see him become a husband, father, and grandfather. Roy was preceded in death by his mother Peggy Prosser, his father, Glenn Simmons, his brother Ronnie Jo Simmons and grandparents. He leaves behind his wife, Tammy Simmons, son Joshua Simmons, daughters Kristen Adekunle husband Dipo, daughter Rachel Simmons, daughter Katlyn Simmons and husband to be Kaylin. Sisters Delsey  Scarbro and husband Danny, Debbie Thompson-Simmons, Peggy Salkill, (who he raised and considered his daughter), husband Eugene, brother Glean Simmons and wife Teressa, Tim Simmons. Granddaughters, Shyanne, Kinley, and grandson Waylon. Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Roy lived life like a true gypsy at heart—independent, adventurous, and never afraid to follow his own path. His journey was filled with stories, laughter, and experiences that reflected the bold and colorful way he chose to live.

He worked as a truck driver for Forward Air and later served the community through his work with the City of Tulsa as a trash truck driver. Roy took pride in his work and in providing for his family.

Later in life, he was forced to retire after being diagnosed with COPD, but even then he faced life with the same toughness and resilience that defined him.

Roy was known for his lively spirit, quick wit, and unmistakable authenticity. He was the kind of person who never pretended to be anything other than himself. What you saw was truly what you got. He had a sharp sense of humor, a stubborn streak that matched his strong will, and a generous heart that often led him to give even when he had little to spare.

Those who knew Roy will always remember his laughter, his stories, and the unique way he carried himself through life. One thing he made clear to everyone around him was his deep pride in where he came from—he was a Texas man through and through, and he never let anyone forget it.

Though his journey on earth has come to an end, the memories he created and the lives he touched will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Roy Earl Simmons will be dearly missed, but lovingly remembered forever.
