Roy Jefferson Taylor, of Covington, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the age of 80. Mr. Taylor was a loving husband, devoted family man, and faithful servant of God. A veteran of the United States Army, he proudly served his country in Germany. Throughout his life, he found great joy in singing and worshiping the Lord, and he was a longtime member of Christ Cornerstone, where he faithfully attended for many years.
Mr. Taylor enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially camping and spending time with those he loved. He was deeply devoted to his family and always supported them in whatever they were pursuing. His love and commitment to his wife, Shirley, remained strong throughout their 61 years of marriage.
Known for his kind heart and gentle spirit, Mr. Taylor will be remembered as a very loving man whose faith, encouragement, and unwavering love for his family touched everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juliette and Horace Taylor; and brother, Jimmy Taylor.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Taylor; daughter, Cherryl and Whit Bruce; sons, Jeffrey and Bonnie Taylor, Jerry and Maria Taylor; grandchildren, Spencer Taylor, Preston and Jas Taylor, Walker Bruce, Dayton Bruce, Riley Broome, Seth Taylor, Sam Taylor, Sofia Taylor, Silas Taylor; great-grandchild, Ace Broome; sister, Sue and Jimmy Herring; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Taylor will be held Sunday, March 15, 2026, 2:00 P.M., at Christ Cornerstone Church, 1020 Oak Hill Road, in Covington, with Pastor Darrell Payne and Rev. Jeffrey Taylor officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family, Saturday, March 14, from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the American Heart Association at https://www.heart.org/.
