Roy Tice Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 26, 2026.
Roy Kenneth Tyce, Sr., age 84, departed this earthly world on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Ashland Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ashland, Mississippi.

Mr. Ken will be cremated, and the family is tentatively planning a memorial service to be held later this spring.

Born on June 13, 1941, in Byhalia, Mississippi, Mr. Ken was the son of the late Leo Roy and Rosanna "Rosie" Warren Tice. He attended Holly Springs High School before setting out to build a life marked by hard work and determination. For more than forty years, he owned and operated Ken Tice Roofing, establishing himself as a skilled roofer who understood the value of honest labor and long days under the Mississippi and Tennessee sun. In his earlier years, he was known as a driven and ambitious man with a sharp mind for business and a strong desire to succeed.

After selling his company and stepping away from the roofing trade, retirement brought a different season of life. Accustomed to chasing opportunity and working deals, slowing down did not always come easy. Like many strong-willed men who have spent a lifetime building something of their own, the transition proved challenging at times. His determination and pursuit of success, which once fueled his achievements, sometimes made him a difficult man to fully understand. Yet even through life's complexities, there remained a resilience about him that never quite faded.

When resources grew tighter and the pace of life changed, Mr. Ken found comfort in simpler pleasures. He enjoyed fishing, going out to eat-especially a good Chinese buffet, which he considered an art form-and living life on his own terms. He was independent to the core. If something needed fixing, he would tackle it himself, and if he did not yet know how, he would learn. A true jack of all trades, he took pride in figuring things out and doing things his way.

Survivors include his sons and step-sons: Brandon Tice (Laurie), Danny Tice (Karen), Billy Bowman (Marie), Scott Foreman, David Houston (Tonya), and Brian Houston; his sisters, Judy Demien, Linda Jane Coughman, and Bonnie Todd (Bill); his brother, Bennie Tice (Mae); along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Kenny Tice, and one brother, William David Tice.

Mr. Ken's life, like most, was a mixture of triumphs and trials, strength and stubbornness, ambition and hard lessons learned. In remembering him, may those who knew him hold onto the better days, the hard work he poured into his trade, and the independent spirit that shaped the man he was.
