Roy White, a beloved member of the Lake Wales community, passed away on December 18, 2025, at AdventHealth Lake Wales. Born on September 1, 1933, in Cornelia, Georgia, Roy lived a life marked by dedication, service, and a profound love for his family and community.
Roy was known as a premier mechanic for Volkswagen vehicles and proudly owned and operated Roy White's Volkswagen Repair. His expertise and commitment to quality earned him the respect and admiration of many customers over the years.
In addition to his professional achievements, Roy served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was a man of faith, being an active member of Christ's Church on the Move in Lake Wales. His faith was instrumental in guiding his life and interactions within the community.
Roy was also known for his vibrant personality and wide-ranging interests. He was an avid junk collector, often found treasure hunting at various thrift stores, including the Lake Wales Care Center Thrift Store. He enjoyed singing during karaoke nights and was a member of the Florida Flywheelers, where he spent time with others who shared his passion for antique engines and machinery.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Avis Mueller; daughters, Tracey Thompson and her husband Scott, Jan Balliett and her husband Arthur, and Sandy Stephens and her husband Elmer, all residing in Lake Wales. He cherished his grandchildren, including Crissann Frith and her husband Tyler, Seth Thompson and his wife Julia, Matt Balliett and his wife Meghan, Sara Balliett, and Summer Walker and her husband Jeremy. Roy was also a proud great-grandfather to Isla, Alyssa, Lucy, Perry, Alex, Galo, and Westyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Ada White Lequire; and four siblings.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Christ’s Church On The Move. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his honor to Christ’s Church On The Move (312 Buck Moore Road, Lake Wales, Florida 33853).
