A Celebration of Life for Royal James Banks, Sr., will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, 11:00 AM at MK Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin, LA. Minister Billy Reaux will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, until the commencement of the celebration at MK Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin, LA.

Royal James Banks, Sr., affectionately known as Fermin Skylar, who departed this life on November 1, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on January 13, 1944, in Paincourtville, Louisiana, he was the cherished son of the late Willie Skylar, Sr. and Albertha Banks.

Roy was a man of strength, kindness, and humor who lived a full and joyful life. He loved spending time with family and friends, always bringing laughter and warmth wherever he went. An avid bowler and self-proclaimed pool shark, he also found peace in fishing and spending time on or near the water.

He is also survived by his former wife, Mildred Banks, whom he shared 16 wonderful years of marriage. He was a loving father to Brian, Rodney (Donna), Tanja (James), Royal (Lisa), Damon, Latrice, Cachet, Larry and Kendall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Skylar, Sr. and Albertha Banks; sisters Olivia Mills and Doreen Lemieux; and brothers Junius Bias, Leonard Lewis, Thomas, Willie and Nathaniel Banks.

Roy worked for many years as a long-distance driver with Acme Trucking Company, where he was known for his dependability, professionalism, and strong work ethic. He was deeply respected by his coworkers and admired by all who knew him.

He will be lovingly remembered by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
